BLACKBOARD WITH SPLATTER SPELL (SINFUL COLORS)

Note: I applied this polish on October 20th and the photo was taken on the 23rd.

Halloween is right around the corner, I can hardly believe it! I don't really enjoy Halloween (I know, I know) but I do enjoy doing a mani inspired by it. I also wanted it to be simple. I had picked up Blackboard a few months back on clearance at Target. I was interested in it since it said on the label that it is a demi-matte. Having tried matte, I was curious what in the world demi-matte was.

I applied two coats of Blackboard for full coverage. It dries a little flat giving it a slightly matte look (which I screwed up by putting on regular top coat later, oops). The color itself is black but not a super deep black, if that makes any sense. Lol. I also decided to add Splatter Spell for a little more Halloween-ish look. I remember using this polish last Halloween and what a pain it was to take off so I decided to only put it on my accent nails to minimize my annoyance. I applied one coat of Splatter Spell. Getting the bigger orange chunks on the brush was a pain but it can be done. I managed to get more on my right hand than my left hand but then again I played around with the brush more for the right hand.

Dry time was a little strange. Sinful Colors polishes tend to trick me as of late with them looking dry, then waiting 20 minutes before I do something to be sure, and a nail is ruined like it was freshly painted. This time around it was my ring finger on my right hand. I got a decent sized hole on the side of the nail. In the end, I just put a light coat over it to blend in with the black. It doesn't look great up close (it kind of looks like a crater, lol). Oh well.

Wear time is pretty average for this polish. Normal tip wear that would be easily fixable, if needed. I am generally rough on my nails (do my dishes by hand plus hand washing, etc.) so they tend to chip faster. Chipping didn't really happen until today (24th) so overall I am pleased.

Overall I am giving this mani a 5 out of 6 stars. While the dry time was a bit of an annoyance, the black is interesting with the different finish and the glitter looks pretty.
